Weed treatment schedule released |

| The Lake Gaston Weed Control Council’s weed treatment plan may begin as early as next week, according to a release sent out Tuesday by Professional Lake Management, the firm contracted to do the work. “Upon final budget approval by the (council’s) board, Professional Lake Management will begin Sonar (fluridone) applications as early as May 30, 2007; budget and weather permitting,” the statement said. “Signs will be posted at all treatment areas indicating the date of treatment and any associated water-use restrictions. If treatments do not commence on May 30, then this will serve as notification that treatments will start the following week June 6.” According to the company, if the pre-treatment surveys reveal “limited hydrilla growth” in proposed treatment areas, alternative sites may be selected and treated.
