At least seven charges were issued Friday night and Saturday morning as a result of a highway checkpoint Littleton police set up on U.S. 158 Friday evening.
Sgt. Shane Jenkins said the police set up and manned the checkpoint from 10 p.m. Friday until 1:15 a.m. Saturday morning.
Among those charged with an offense while being stopped was Abduladhim Ahmed Al-Sabaki, of 3155 Roanoke Ave., Littleton, who was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
Jenkins said a 9 mm Luger Model C-9 was recovered from under the driver’s seat of a car stopped at the checkpoint, resulting in the misdemeanor charge. The weapon was confiscated and Al-Sabaki was charged and released.
Jenkins said additionally two summonses were issued for people driving without a driver’s permit, two for people driving on a revoked permit, and two more for driving a vehicle with a failed inspection sticker.
In an unrelated incident, a meat cutter at Piggly Wiggly has been charged with four counts of larceny in connection with meat being stolen from the store.
Grove Ricks Jr., 59, of 3668 Spring Mill Trail Road in Rocky Mount, was charged with stealing meat from the four on four different occasions, after Jenkins met with and interviewed the suspect.
He was placed under a $4,000 secured bond.
In other police reports:
• Anthony Lee Davis, 39, of 217 Ferguson St., Littleton, was arrested at 102 Little Drive, where he was allegedly hiding in an attic.
Jenkins said he and a Halifax County deputy found Davis there while searching for him after Davis was indicted and charged with one felony count of larceny, a felony county of possession of stolen property, and a felony count of obtaining property under false pretenses.
He was placed under a $3,000 secured bond.
• Doris Ann Dowtin, 29, of Yanceyville St., Greensboro, was arrested and charged with driving with a revoked license and with speeding, doing 41 mph in a 20 mph zone.
She was placed under a $1,000 secured bond.
• Irwin Tukek Edmonds, 19, of 71 Moisa Drive, Roanoke Rapids, was charged with driving with a revoked license. He was released on a $150 cash bond.
• Quentin Rudolph Smith Jr., 37, of 127 South Square Drive, Littleton, was charged with misdemeanor shoplifting from Piggly Wiggly, according to a Littleton Police Department report. He was released on a $500 unsecured bond.
• Adrienne Davis Wilson was charged with making in improper pass after a two-automobile crash on March 12 at the intersection of Mosby Avenue and Warrant Street.
According to a Littleton Police report, a 2005 Ford driven by Wilson attempted to pass a 2004 truck driven by John S. Jones, when he was making a left turn.
When the car attempted to pass Jones on the left, the crash ensued.
Damage to Wilson’s car was estimated at $4,200, while damage to Jones’ vehicle was estimated at $3,800.
• A car was reported vandalized on March 10.
The vehicle, a 1991 Toyota Camry, had its right window broken and its antenna broken, according a police report.
