John 3:16 Center gets conditional use permit |

By Maurice Emery LITTLETON – The Littleton Town Board of Adjustment approved a conditional use permit for John 3:16 last Thursday night. This is the second time the board has approved the permit. The permit was originally approved on Feb 8th, but the board was unaware of a letter of objection to the permit. When Jim Skilton, Chairman, Board of Adjusters, became aware he called another meeting to reconsider the issue. The meeting was attended by Juli Jenkins, Director of John 3:16, Skilton and Richard Brown a member of board. The meeting was delayed because they needed three votes to approve the permit for a variance. They were able to contact board member Mike Curran by phone. As Curran listened in on the speaker phone, Skilton opened the meeting and read the letter from Carlton Jenkins dated Feb. 6, 2007. Carlton is the owner of the property adjoining the center. He explained that his health did not permit him to attend the meeting. His objection was over the future use, which is for an expansion, of the center. He felt that they had enough land to build on and did not need to expand in his direction. In the end the Board approved the permit for the second time last month. Juli Jenkins was pleased that they approved it at that time because it allowed her to purchase the property in question.
