Three Littleton town board seats will be up for grabs in the fall elections, and would-be candidates can start declaring their intention to run on Friday, July 6.
The filing period officially opens at noon that day, and lasts until noon on July 20.
Every town in Halifax County, the city of Roanoke Rapids, and the Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District will be holding municipal elections on Nov. 6.
In Littleton, the seats held by commissioners Alfred L. Cooke Sr., Clara Debnan, and Terry Newsom are open, according to the Halifax County Board of Elections office.
None of the three candidates have formally announced their intentions.
In Roanoke Rapids, all three districts are up for election, according to the Board of Elections office, as are the three seats on the Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District.
Anyone wishing to run for office must visit the Board of Elections in Halifax, complete an application and pay a filing fee. To run for a seat on the Littleton board, the fee is $5. It is $14.40 to run for a slot on the sanitary district board, and $75 to run for a spot on the Roanoke Rapids city council.
