Former town official Gumption passes away

Longtime Littleton resident and former Town Commissioner Roger Gupton passed away last Friday at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was 89 years old.

Mr. Gupton was a native of Halifax County and well-known in Littleton.

He was a vice president at BB&T in Littleton, where he retired after 37 years. After retiring he went on to work at Lake Gaston Medical Clinic (now known as the Rural Health Group).

Mr. Gupton was a member of the American Legion Post 308 for 59 years. He was also a member of the Littleton Lions Club.

A long-time member of the Littleton Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and was on numerous committees.

Funeral service will be today at 11 a.m. at the Littleton Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Currin will conduct the services.

The burial will follow the services at Enterprise Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Littleton Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 308, or the Littleton Lions Club.
