The Lake Gaston Weed Control Council’s (LGWCC) reported that Professional Lake Management (PLM) has decided not to treat an area because upon surveying it the hydrilla had not grown as much as was anticipated.
The area was part of the Hawtree treatment section.
It was not known at press time where PLM would be treating to replace these 50 areas.
PLM has completed the first round of treatments for this season.
In other LGWCC news Dr. Elton Brown, president of the council told the Observer in a telephone interview that the council has received $50,000 from Virginia.
This is part of the money the state set aside for hydrilla control that was targeted for the Potomac River and Lake Gaston.
Brown said there is still some money left in that fund that Lake Gaston may be able to receive.
