Littleton man hit with drug charges

A Littleton man is among four people arrested last week in a multi-jurisdictional drug investigation aimed at area drug suppliers.

Brian Zollicoffer, 23, of Littleton was arrested in Nash County, according to Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Major Bruce Temple, and charges with trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, ecstasy, and cocaine.

Temple said the arrests came about as a result of a seven-month operation by his office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Nash County Sheriffs office, and the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

Also arrested were:

• Reco Larue Johnson, 32, of Roanoke Rapids, who was charged with four counts of trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to sell cocaine, sale and delivery of cocaine, two counts of maintaining a dwelling, two counts of possess drug paraphernalia, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possess stolen firearm, possess marijuana, and possession of a weapon of mass destruction;

 • Antwaine “Twan” Johnson, 29, of Roanoke Rapids who was charged with four counts of trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession with intent to sell cocaine, possession with intent to sell ecstasy;

 • Stephanie Flemming, 24, of Roanoke Rapids, who was charged with maintain dwelling for drugs, possession of a stolen forearm, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, possess marijuana, possess drug paraphernalia. 

Temple said the investigation is continuing, thus he cannot release much additional information. He could not say how much in the way of drugs were involved, other than to say “it was a large amount.”

Because none of the arrests or the probe took place inside the town limits, Temple said his office had not involved the Littleton Town Police.

“This really started as an investigation with just the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation,” he explained. “We involved other agencies as it expanded to their jurisdiction.

Despite no arrests within the town limits of Littleton, Temple said “There are elements of this arrest that include drug traffic in the Littleton area. Significant drug traffic.”
