Water runoff and line grants awarded

Thanks to the Window Fashion Resources (WFR) project the town of Littleton will be able to make improvements to the present storm water runoff system in Littleton.  The improvements will deal with the runoff problems on Rt. 158 at the site of the new WFR and other locations.

The $477,137.00 Community Development Block Grant for Economic Development (CDBG-ED) from NC Department of Commerce has been approved. The CDBG-ED funds will account for approximately 100% of the total project.

The grant will allow the town to repair several storm water runoff drains and make them safer for town residents.  Areas to be repaired are Rt. 158 at Plant, Warren St., Ferguson St., Johnson and Halifax.  The project will also allow for the expansion of the bridge on Warren Street

The grant represents the completion of another effort over the last several years by town Commissioner Betty Willis, the town board and Mayor Mason Hawfield to improve the water systems for the town.

The town also won an award for work on the infra structure clean water lines in the East End.  This grant totaled $269,496.00 and was also part of the CDBG-ED program.
