Happy Club holds Annual Banquet |

By Maurice Emery One hundred and seven members and guests of The Littleton Seniors Citizens “Happy Club” held their annual banquet last Saturday. The annual event was held at the home of the club, The event Saturday was MC’ed by Barbara Jones. The entertainment for the evening was The Mallory Family Singers from Gaston. In her welcoming remarks, Dorothy Hill said, “I welcome you once, I welcome you twice, I welcome you in the name of Christ.” The seniors have come a long way from their original planning meeting in October 1975. Those twelve members saw the club quickly grow to over 100 and become a integral part of the “The purpose of the anniversary banquet is to let everyone know, who has helped, that they are appreciated,” Addie Nixon told the gathering. The members and guest were served a meal of ham, fried chicken, cabbage, macaroni and cheese, corn rolls and dessert catered by A Catered Affair of Littleton. The special guest speaker was Rev. Quientrell L. Burrell, Jr. Pastor, First Baptist Church of Weldon. |
