Early primary voting continues, Halifax offers curbside voting

Voters throughout North Carolina can take advantage of early voting to cast their ballot in the May 6 primary.  May 6 is the actual primary date, but One-Stop Voting opens the doors for more people to vote.  One Stop Voting started on April 17.  According to Warren County Board of Elections office over 100 people had taken advantage of the service as of last Friday.

NC allows voters to register and vote in the same day with One-Stop Voting. A NC resident who is qualified to register to vote may register In-Person and vote at a One-Stop Site in the person’s county of residence during the One-Stop Absentee Voting period.

The process is sometimes referred to as “In-Person Registration,” but it is important to recognize that it is not permitted on Election Day itself.

Registered voters may also update their address and change vital information in an existing registration record at the One-Stop Site, but they are not allowed to change their party affiliation during the One-Stop Voting period that precedes a partisan primary.

In Halifax County, residents may register and vote at the Board of Elections office, in Halifax from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Special Saturday One-Stop Voting will be on May 3 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The Halifax Board of Elections office is located at 10 N. King Street, Halifax, NC.

Halifax County also offers curbside assistance for those voters who may not be able to walk into the Board of Elections.  They even have a special parking place for people who want to take advantage of  the service.

Warren County One-Stop Voting can be completed at two sites.  They offer the service at the John Graham Annex Bldg. and at Vaughan Elementary School.  One-Stop Voting runs from April 17 - May 3 the times are Mon. - Fri. 8:00am - 5:00 p.m. and Sat., April 19, 26, & May 3 from 8:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m.

The John Graham Annex is located at 309 N Main Street, Warrenton.  The Vaughan Elementary School is located at 110 Matt Nelson Rd., Vaughan.
